As a Senior Program Manager at Yahoo, I led the execution of McDonald’s Canada’s innovative AR Game campaign, designed to drive awareness and downloads of the McDonald’s MyRewards App. Created in just two weeks, this engaging mobile experience utilized cutting-edge web AR technology to deliver a fun and interactive game accessible to anyone with a smartphone.

The gameplay challenged users to launch eight 3D McDonald’s items into their space using the 8thWall engine and locate them within 30 seconds to win. Players accessed the game via a landing page, either directly on their mobile browser or by scanning a QR code on desktop. Available in both English and Canadian French, the experience was seamlessly tailored for a bilingual audience. Upon completing the game, users were encouraged to download the MyRewards App, where they could redeem free points for McDonald’s purchases.

Additionally, I partnered with Yahoo’s Canada team to create promotional creative that ran across the XBOX gaming platform, expanding the campaign’s reach to gaming enthusiasts.

The campaign achieved impressive results:

  • 12K users engaged

  • 80K AR experience completions

This fast-paced project demonstrated the power of immersive technology and gamified experiences in driving user engagement and app adoption, showcasing McDonald’s Canada’s innovative approach to connecting with its customers.
